Have you ever heard these before?
…”Proteins make you to add so much weight”…
…”Do not take protein foods if you really want to lose weight”…
Or have you ever thought or been told by a friend that:
“Protein as a tissue builder will make you to continuously add weight”…
…and that, “if you really want that your weight loss program to be successful, you have to quit proteins”.
The list of false thoughts, and advice could go on and on. The only difference from what I have mentioned above and what you may have thought/heard (if not exactly the way I wrote it); is just the way your adviser or you (the thinker) must have arranged it in your head.
But the content still remains the same.
What is really the truth about weight loss and protein breakfast?
…Is not just the truth. I would call it a “scientific severally-proven truth”.
And it involves what I am about to reveal to you below;
Have ever heard of “metabolism” before?…and if you have, do you really know how it relates to weight loss?
Yes? Or No?…in any case, you are about to know or even know better…

Metabolism is the set of life-sustaining chemical transformations within the cells of the body. These enzyme-catalyzed reactions allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments…(This is the scientific definition, anyway).
Talking of its relation to weight loss;
…Metabolism is simply the process through which the body burn off fat(weight).
That’s to say; if you can increase the metabolism within your body. It would cause your body to burn off more calories. Hence, giving you weight loss.
Have you ever asked yourself:
What really happens whenever I exercise to lose weight?
You simply increase your body’s metabolism rate, hence burning excess fat off your body.
Of course, you may have asked; “What of those that does not exercise but only diet to lose weight?”
They simply cut down their calories intake. So, there is no excess calories. Hence, no burning of excess calories. Thus, calories’ intake is not always enough for the body’s metabolism. Hence, the body augments with the calories, already stored as fats in the body. But when you decide to starve yourself in the name of dieting, you will end up losing your muscles rather than the fat.Hope you now understand that?
So, back to our topic;
Do you know that skipping breakfast causes weight gain?
…Yes! You read right, weight gain!
Never skip breakfast again…And always include protein in your breakfasts.
Why did I say protein breakfast makes you to lose weight?
I was working with an engineering firm few years back. While I worked there, I do notice something with my eating habits and hunger…
…any day I skipped breakfast before going to office, I end up eating junks twice before 1pm. However, whenever, I take breakfast, I rarely notice when the clock ticks 1pm (Of course, the lunch break do make me to eat).
But something surprising caught my attention most times;…And what could that be? (As I could almost hear you ask same in your mind).
…On the days when I take protein foods for breakfast, aside normal “tea and slices of bread”, I do end up not feeling hungry throughout the day. But, I could drink water often, on those days(…which is not bad at all—taking water). If you have tried “Ewa agoyin” for breakfast, you will understand this better…Lol.
You may have noticed same too. But all the same,
…These are the core reasons why/how protein breakfasts gives you weight loss fast:
===One, protein breakfasts, increases you body metabolism. Simply put, your body needs more calories to burn protein (20-30%) than carbs (5-10%) and fats (0-3%). And with increases metabolism, you have increase your body activity, thus ensuring rapid weight loss.
If you have ever tried to jog early in the morning before going to work; you can easily spot the difference in your day’s output. Then, compare to the days you fail to jog in the morning…You could now understand why increased metabolism in the morning, is the best way to start the day.
===Two, having relatively increased metabolism in the morning,is a very good way to start the day. It makes the body to function maximally. Thus, the increased metabolic rate will detect the pace for other body activities. Thus, ensuring weight loss.
===Three, when you take breakfasts, you end up eating less for the rest of the day. However, the experience becomes better when the breakfast includes protein. You not only get full, get your appetite curbed, you also prevent overeating for the rest of the day.
This prevents you from taking extra calories which you would not be able to burn.
…Like what most of us normally eat at work (in-between meals and probably in hold-ups). You remember?…Lol
…Of course, Gala and any of the carbonated drinks………. (You can fill the space with your brand).
===Four, protein breakfast is a key nutrient for weight loss. This means you burn more calories by eating protein than by eating carbs or fat. In fact, a high protein intake has been shown to help burn extra 80-100 calories eat day.
A high protein diet can also help prevent muscle loss during calorie restriction, and partly prevent the reduction in metabolism that often comes with weight loss through dieting.
===High-protein breakfasts reduces appetite and cravings. They may also help you lose belly fat.
It is also good that you know this:
Dietary protein, especially, when taken for breakfast is inversely related to belly fat, meaning the more high-quality protein you eat for breakfast, the less belly fat you are likely to get.
If I may help you to ask; “What are these proteins that one could take for breakfast?”
Here is the list;
- Bole(roasted plantain) with vegetables
- Okpa (Bambara bean delicacy)
- Whole wheat bread
- Beans (not canned)
- Corn meal and oat meal waffle mix
- Baked egg in avocado
- Scrambled egg
- Greek yogurt
- Fried egg with spinach
- Mocha banana protein
- Hard-boiled or fried egg with tea
- Protein oatmeal
- Cottage cheese with fruit and toast
- Bacon, and spinach egg casserole
- Poached eggs with tomatoes
- Egg and sweet potatoes
I am used to normal cooked beans, bole, okpa, fried egg with spinach and sometimes, boiled egg and tea.
So, you make your choice and start eating protein breakfast for your positive weight loss results.
“When next someone tells you to skip breakfast or avoid protein breakfasts. You know what to tell the person?”
